Ministry News
Dear Friends, We hope you all had a good 5 de Mayo! The year has flown by fast. It’s hard to believe that it’s May already and time to prepare to return to Mexico this summer. This spring, Bryan finished his two seminary classes this spring. He’s now six credits short of his master’s degree. Things in Texcoco seem to be going well. They had 80 people in attendance for the Mother’s Day program. Mother’s Day is on May 10th in Mexico, no matter on what day of the week it falls. Since they take family photos every year on Mother’s Day, Bryan is helping from the U.S. by editing the photos and adding in different backgrounds that the people choose. The construction of the church building in Texcoco is moving along. They are getting close to finishing the first floor, and they’ve started on the second floor. They just started meeting in the new building! You can see pictures here. Thank you to all who donated to this project. Please pray for wisdom for Lino and Sara. They want to go to Honduras to be missionaries. He’s currently trying to raise support to go. Please pray that they make wise decisions. We are finishing things up here in the U.S. The boys finish school at the end of May We are working on passports, shots, and packing up. In June, we will be attending orientation at FIM, so after that we will officially be FIMers. Then, we will say goodbye to family and friends and head back to Mexico from Indianapolis. We aren’t sure yet where we’ll be staying once we reach Mexico. We had planned to stay with the Smith’s while we search for a new house, but things have gotten very complicated for them now. They’re looking for a new house to rent since the son of their landlord is getting married, and they want the house back (This happens a lot in Mexico). At the same time, they have a group coming and then a trip to the U.S. for meetings scheduled. So, we need to find somewhere for all 7 of us to stay while we find a place to live. Family News Susan is recovering well from giving birth. The kids will end school in the end of this month. Although they’ve enjoyed going to school for the first time this year, they are ready to get back to Mexico. Mexico News We are glad that we made the decision to fly back to the U.S. this time as violence continues to escalate especially in the city where we cross, Nuevo Laredo. We would drive through both Nuevo Laredo and Monterrey on our trip to Mexico City. Presidential elections will be held in July. A liberal candidate Peña Nieto is expected to win over the conservative and socialist candidates. Some say that the drug violence will slow down once the elections end.
