Ministry News
We hope you all have a wonderful celebration of our Savior’s birth! This past Sunday, we had our first Christmas program. The teens did a funny skit, and the kids did a traditional Christmas play. We had a good turnout with 70-80 people attending. We had 90 confirmed, but it started to rain(for the first time in over a month) right before we were scheduled to start. Several didn’t come because of the rain. Half of the people who came were visitors, and several first time visitors. There were no decisions made, but they heard the gospel.
A lot has happened in the last few months. In the end of October, Bryan went to a conference in another city. They announced where the different churches represented were from, When they announced our city, another pastor came and found me to find out about our church. He told me that there was a military family from his church that moved to our area in the summer and hadn’t been able to find a church. Ever since, that family along with two others have been coming.
Luis, who has been our most faithful man, preached for the first time the Sunday that Bryan was gone at the conference. He was nervous, and especially nervous as those three new families showed up for the first time. He did a great job, and even offered to preach again. I will be having him preach once every few months. Then, as he grows, we will work him in more. We would love it if he eventually became the pastor, but he still has a long way to go before that were to happen.
A couple came for counseling a few months ago. The couple got saved and are attending our prayer meeting. The wife brought her sister who got saved, and last night I had my first meeting with their brother and his wife. Please pray for their salvation and for the gospel to transform their lives!
We finally have a new place to meet! A place nearby gave us a quote of $40/Sunday about a year ago. Our church could not afford that. The average offering is less than $20/week. Since we no longer fit in the house we rent for church, I wrote up a proposal to the owners offering $50/month, with the stipulation that if someone else wanted to rent the space for a party (which rarely happens), we would change our service times so that they could still rent it out. They accepted our proposal, and for the last month, we have been in a place that is twice the size of our house. It still isn’t huge. We were very full for our Christmas program, but we are thankful for the extra space!
A few days ago, there was an explosion at a Fireworks market in Tultepec which is only 6 miles from us. Many were killed, and many others injured. Please pray that God would comfort the families of the victims and that people would get saved.
Family News
We are excited that grandparents are coming. In January, Susan’s parents are coming, and in February, Bryan’s parents are coming. Bryan’s dad had hip replacement surgery earlier this month, so please pray for his recovery.
