Ministry News

Dear Friends,

I hope that you all had a merry Christmas!  Here in Mexico, the Christmas celebration starts on Christmas Eve.  They have their big Christmas dinner late at night, then stay up all night to celebrate with family, and then sleep on the 25th.  Here is a site that shows how they celebrate.
Our Sunday school is going well.  Attendance has dropped in the month of December for everything including our Bible studies.  However, things will hopefully pick up as people get back into the swing of things.  We had a good group this past Sunday where we were full with 25 people.  We hope to start regular services later this year.  As we grow, we will have to find a new place to meet as our ministry center is full with 25 people for a service.
We have 4 kids in our youth group.  We praise the Lord that all of them have come to trust in Christ as their Savior.  As an activity at the end of the year, we went to Fun Central.  One of the girls in the youth group brought her sister, and she broke her wrist while ice skating.  God may be using that in her life.  Although she isn’t saved yet, she has come to every Sunday school class since then.
Joanie, a woman who comes to a morning Bible study, is going through marriage problems.  Her husband won’t let her attend our Sunday school, and he doesn’t know she is coming to this Bible study.  She has come to know Christ, but is struggling with her husband who isn’t saved.   Please pray that she will be able to reflect God’s love so that he can be transformed into God’s child as well.
We are planning for 2014 now.  In February, we have three special events.  On February 2nd, we’ll be eating the traditional tamales.  On the 9th, we will be having a dinner for my parents that the people wanted to have, and on the 16th, we’ll be having a love and friendship dinner.  We hope that we can plan our first baptism later this year.  This summer will once again be a very busy time with summer camps and VBS.
*If anyone is interested in a mission trip to help with basketball or soccer camps and VBS in July, let us know!  We could really use the help during those three weeks.  Last year we had 60+ kids each day, and there are very few of us to handle that many kids.

Family News

The kids are very excited about the next two months when both sets of grandparents will be coming for a visit.  They are working hard in school so that they can take time off while their grandparents are here.
