Ministry News
Dear Friends,
On June 8th, we held our first baptisms. 8 people were baptized. We had more that were originally going to be baptized, but because of different reasons, only 8 were baptized. We may have more baptisms later in the summer. We praise God for those who made decisions to be baptized.
In May, we had substance abuse counseling training. Training was held in Puebla, Mexico City, and the suburbs of Mexico City. Pam Russell from Almond Tree Ministry, a ministry of Bible Baptist Church in Kokomo, IN, came to give the workshops. I will be giving it again this fall.
We want to use this as an evangelism tool in the community. We are currently helping one family whose son is a drug addict. God has opened other doors for counseling recently as well. We are currently counseling 4 different families. One of these families has come to know Christ, and are attending our Sunday School as well. We pray that the other families will also come to know Christ.
This summer we will be very busy. From July 21st through August 8th, we will be having soccer and basketball camps as well as a week of VBS. We weren’t able to get any athletes to help this year, so we are doing it at two different times. We do have some help for the VBS, and also some of our new believers will be helping us as well.
Our Sunday School continues. We have seen some people come and others go. We have a good core of faithful people attending. We will be using our summer activities to promote our first church service which will take place on Sunday, August 10th.
On July 7th, we will be making a trip to the border. Because of law changes, we have to do some paperwork for our van at the border. We will be taking a few days while there to visit some friends in Houston. Things seem to have improved some near the border, but there are still dangers. We appreciate your prayers for safety as we travel.
Family News
The kids are glad that school is over. They are also looking forward to our trip next week.
Susan is expecting. Our new baby boy should be here in time for Christmas. Because of some early complications, she spent most of May and June on bedrest, but is doing much better now, and the baby looks fine.
