Ministry News

Dear Friends,

In the beginning of the month, The Day of the dead was celebrated here in Mexico.  It’s a holiday here where the people believe that the souls of the dead return to earth.  The make an alter with an offering of the favorite foods and drinks of their loved ones so that the dead can eat the essence of the food.

Because of the focus on the dead, on October 31st, we showed the movie, God is Not Dead.  We had many visitors come, and two came to me afterwards asking for counseling.  We started with one this week.

Counseling is a great opportunity to share the gospel.  They come looking for help for a problem, and Jesus is the answer.  We’ve recently been counseling a couple and a single lady.  The lady made a profession, but we’re not sure that she completely understands.  It’s hard to grasp that salvation is a completely free gift.  With the couple that we were counseling, they also have made a profession.  We have now finished the counseling, and we are now doing a Bible study with them.  He recently lost his job.

On August 10th, we held our first church service.  We had a decent turnout.  Our people were excited about finally having a church service.  We are averaging about 25 people on Sundays. We are teaching an evangelism class right now so that our people can learn how to reach out to their friends and family with the gospel.

In September, we held another baptismal service.  Only one person was baptized this time, but several visitors were in attendance and heard the gospel.  We also celebrated Independence Day with a special event in which we had quite a few visitors as well.

The next big event is Christmas.  This year, we are not going to be planning anything elaborate since Susan is due during that time.  We will probably be having a Christmas banquet.

Family News

Recently most of us have been sick with colds.  Aaron has had problems with his stomach for almost 2 months now.  He complains daily about pain in his stomach.  We’ve taken him to the doctor a few times, and he’s given him medicine.  He told us to come back in a month, so that is in the next week or so.

We’ve hit the birthday stretch.  Abby turned 8,Caleb is 12, Aaron is 6, and Josh turns 15 next week.

Susan has had a difficult pregnancy.  She started off the pregnancy in bed, and now she must remain  on rest until December 6th.  Because of this, we have suspended the women’s Bible study.  Her due date is December 21st.  We are thankful for two ladies who are continuing to teach the women’s cooking and crafting classes in Susan’s place, and two others who are teaching the children’s Sunday school class.
