Ministry News
Our time in the U.S. is over. It went by very quickly. We drove about 16,000 miles and drove through 22 states in the 3 1/2 months. We were able to visit many of the individuals and families who support us along with 11 of our supporting churches. For those who we were not able to visit this time, we look forward to visiting with you in the fall of 2018 when we return again for another short trip back to the U.S.
We returned to our church here in Mexico in the beginning of March, and they had a dinner for us to welcome us back after the Sunday service. It’s great to see the people again, and to see many of them serving in the church while we were gone.
During “Semana Santa,” Easter week, we took some young people on a youth retreat. It was exciting to see God work in the lives of our young people. One young man trusted in Christ as his Savior!
Our Easter service normally isn’t well attended in Mexico, as people don’t normally come because they visit with family. However, this year we had a really good turnout with most of our regulars there.
We really need a new place to meet. We don’t have room to grow. Our current house is too small to fit everyone. Currently, when all of our regulars show up, some people have to stand outside until we dismiss the children to their class upstairs. We will be looking for a larger space, but also we need our people to step up in giving in order to pay for a larger space. It is also a challenge finding a larger space in our area as all of the houses are alike and very small.
Hugo and Silvia, the couple who covered for us while we were gone, did a great job. They will stay very involved in the ministry now. We will be helping them as they start the process of becoming missionaries in Indonesia.
We have two evangelistic events coming up. In April, we will celebrate Children’s Day and in May, Mother’s Day.
Family News
The kids enjoyed seeing family and friends in the U.S. on our trip, especially their grandparents. They are also happy to be back in Mexico not in the car all of the time.
Since this was our last trip back to the U.S. before Josh goes to college(Yikes! Where does the time go?), we visited 4 different colleges to help him get an idea of where he might like to study.
We had hoped Matthew would start walking in the U.S. where there is carpet, but he decided to wait until we got back to concrete floors in Mexico. Needless to say, he has a few bumps and bruises, but he’s doing well walking.
