Ministry News
Dear Partners in
ministry. Here is a quick update on what is happening here in Texcoco.
The World Cup was a huge
event here in Mexico. We passed out about 20,000 World Cup tracts
(pamphlets with the gospel and World Cup schedule) leading up to the
World Cup. A couple of people responded and said that they wanted a
Bible Study because of these tracts, but when the time came, they backed
out. However, the gospel was clearly presented on the tracts and our
prayer is that God will still use these tracts to reach people for
Himself.
Thank you all for your
prayers for Salvador. His lawyers are trying to get his fine completely
erased. If that doesn't happen he will still have many bills to pay.
God used this trial in his life, not just in his family, but in the
whole church, and we praise God for giving him this trial.
Earlier this summer our
church was going through a slump. People weren’t as faithful coming to
church or to other church activities, because of vacations, the World
Cup, and various other reasons. We praise the Lord that things have
picked up a lot since Salvador was released from prison, and several new
families have been coming. We are now having a problem with space!
In July, we had our DVBS. We
had about 30 kids come. It was a good testimony for the community. One
girl from the clubs also started coming to our weekly youth group
meeting. Now she has been coming to church with her mom on Sundays as
well, and a Bible study was started in their home.
Last week, Teresa, a 72
year old mother of a newer family in church, got lost, and nobody could
find her for 3 days. We helped look for her in several places in
Texcoco, and she wasn’t anywhere to be found. A man in our church said,
“If someone gets lost in Mexico, if you find them, they’re usually
dead.” Praise the Lord that finally, they found her alive in a city an
hour away in a homeless shelter. We thank God for this trial too, which
has been a huge growing experience for this family! They are learning
to trust in God in a very real way.
Our team has also started
several new Bible studies over the past few weeks with unbelievers. We
have seen several people come to Christ as a result of these studies.
It is exciting to see God work!
