July, 2004
Dear
Faithful Supporters,
We hope you
are all enjoying your summer. It’s
hard to believe that July is halfway over!
We are busy packing up everything this week, getting ready to move.
Pending
the approval of our home church and the mission board, we are planning to
move to Texcoco, a city about 45 minutes from
Mexico City
. We believe God is providing
us with many great opportunities to serve Him there.
We are so excited about moving there, and can’t wait to begin
working! We will be
moving to Texcoco this week for a month before we return to the States in
order to get to know the area and the other missionaries better.
In August, a board member from EBM will be coming down to survey
Texcoco. Then, sometime in the
end of August or beginning of September, we will have a meeting at the EBM
home office in
Indianapolis
. We are excited to see how
God has been directing in our lives. He
is so good!
We
will be returning to the States in the end of August and are planning to
stay in the
U.S.
until about the middle of November, raising additional support.
We are currently at about 80%.
So far we have several meetings scheduled, but we are hoping to
schedule more. The trip back
will be about a 50 hour drive through
Mexico
and the
United States
. We will be making this trip
in about 5 days. Our tentative
date to begin the drive is August 17th.
We would appreciate your prayers for safety and sanity on the
drive!
The
evangelism classes have now finished.
Because of time, we only taught in two churches, but three other
churches here in
Puebla
are planning on using the material in their churches.
It was a real joy to see so many begin using what they have
learned!
Augusto,
who is a professor at one of the local universities where
Bryan
has been working, has been very enthusiastic about studying God’s Word.
Earlier this year, he accepted Christ as his Savior, and now has
been doing a Bible Study with
Bryan
for about a month. We met
twice a week for about an hour and a half each time.
When we would finish with one lesson, he would want to continue on
to the next. We are very
excited to see his hunger after God’s Word.
Since we are leaving, we have introduced him to a local pastor who
will continue to do the study with him.
In
other ministry news, Isabeli, a girl from one of
Bryan
’s classes, who accepted Christ in April, has been pretty regular in
attending church and youth group. Also,
last Sunday,
Bryan
had a chance to preach in a local church where five people raised their
hands for salvation.
Joshua’s
school year ended in June. It
was a very good opportunity for him. He
was very sad that he couldn’t go anymore.
He learned quite a bit of Spanish.
Almost every day he is surprising us with a new word or phrase that
he has learned. He is also
learning his letters and numbers. Caleb
is also learning some Spanish. He
doesn’t say much yet, in English or Spanish – it’s all still
processing in his mind. But
some weeks it’s thank you, and others it’s gracias!
Soon he’ll have both languages all sorted out and will be talking
up a storm! He is still very
busy and is into everything! It
is a joy to see them grow.
Praises:
1.
Augusto’s salvation and spiritual growth.
2.
The evangelism training courses that were given.
3.
