March, 2003
Dear Faithful Supporters,
Greetings from warm, sunny
Mexico
. We have been here now for
two months and have adjusted well. We
have settled into a small two bedroom house with a small yard for Josh to
play in. It is perfect.
Since we’ve been here, we’ve had some unusual and
interesting experiences. A
couple of weeks ago, our car caught on fire.
We went to a grocery store, and as we were leaving, another car
needed to be jumped. I hooked
up the cables, my red to his big bright red, and my black to his other
cable. But someone had put a
red cap on the wrong side of his battery, so the cable caught on fire both
on his battery and ours. There
was smoke everywhere! We
thank the Lord that no serious damage was done.
This did give Susan a chance to talk to Josh about how God
protected us from the fire. When
we got home, Josh told Susan that God protected us just like he protected
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego
from the fire, and that we needed to pray and thank God for protecting us.
Caleb is growing very fast.
He is 6 months old now and has two teeth.
He loves to check out everything using his walker.
He and Josh have a good time playing together.
Josh is a good big brother. He
is learning a little Spanish too.
Spanish classes are going well.
Susan has been taking an intermediate Spanish class every weekday
from
8:00 a.m.
until
2:00 p.m.
, and then
Bryan
goes in to class from
2:30 p.m.
until
4:00 p.m.
Last week was
Bryan
’s last week. Susan is
advancing well with her Spanish. Last
week was her last week of intermediate Spanish, before she moves up to
advanced Spanish.
We have begun inviting people that we meet in the
school and in our neighborhood over to our house, in order to develop
relationships and share the gospel. So
far we have had
Bryan
’s teacher over, and our neighbors,
Salvador
and
Salvador
, Jr. Thank you for your
prayers for
Salvador
and his son
Salvador
. When they came over for
lunch on Saturday the 8th, both of them put their faith in
Christ alone for salvation. The
father even asked if we could study the Bible together.
Susan has also had the opportunity to share the gospel with people
in classes at school. Last
week, Susan had a class with a man named
Dallas
. He was only there for a
week, but she got into some great discussions with him.
She was able to answer many of his questions about God and to give
him the complete plan of salvation. He
was very worried, and thinking a lot about life and death and the meaning
of things. His son, Eldridge,
is a soldier who, as far as we know, is fighting in
Iraq
right now. We promised him
that we would pray for his son’s safety.
Please join us in praying for Dallas, his son Eldridge, and the
rest of his family, that through all of this, they would come to Christ
and trust Him for their salvation.
Dallas
was amazingly open, and God can do mighty things in every part of the
world.
The church in
Puebla
is doing well. They have
recently moved out of the
Hudson
’s garage into a reception hall at a local restaurant.
The church had reached it’s maximum
capacity in the garage. Now
with the room in the restaurant, the church’s capacity has doubled,
which will allow the church to grow to 60-65.
Rick has a couple of Bible studies going on right now with some
non-believers. Next week
three people will be baptized after a church picnic.
Next week we will be going to
Puebla
for a conference for missionaries on interpersonal relationships.
We are looking forward to getting to know more missionaries and
learning biblical principles on relationships in the conference.
