Dear Faithful Supporters,

We’re glad to be writing to you from warm, beautiful Mexico .  We trust that all of you are doing well and we thank you again for all of your prayers and support.  Thank you also to all of you who sent us birthday greetings.  We are glad to have you as part of our team.

Well, it has been very exciting here over the last month.  Susan broke her finger, Bryan broke his hand, the computer hard drive crashed and needed to be replaced, and the car needed an overhaul.  We were very glad that the transmission problem didn’t happen until we arrived in Puebla instead of on the three hour drive there.  Even though we have had some problems, God, as always, has taken care of us.

Susan’s Spanish classes are coming along well.  She is now in the superior level, and only has a month left of classes.  She will be glad to be finished so that she can spend more time with the boys.  Joshua and Caleb are doing well.  Joshua is growing fast. He really enjoys drawing and building things.  He also has a real interest in learning about the Bible, especially about Jesus on the cross.  Please pray for us as we answer his questions.  He is beginning to understand some of it.  Caleb is 8 months old and into everything!  He also thinks he can talk now and loudly tries to tell us his ideas about everything.

Bryan has just started to teach a five week evangelism course at the church here on Friday nights.  Six people came the first week, and yesterday we had ten.  We are glad for the opportunity to serve.

We still have a good relationship with our neighbors Salvador and his son, Salvador .  It has been awhile and we still haven’t been able to do a Bible study with them.  We have scheduled several meetings that have all been canceled for one reason or another.  They seem to be genuinely interested, but things keep getting in the way.  We hope to still get a few studies in before we leave.  We also hope to invite our local pastor over so that they can continue a study with him, and hopefully get involved at the church.

Susan has had a great opportunity to witness to her teacher, Adriana.  For the past couple of months she and another missionary have been the only two in the class, and Adriana has been very open to talking about spiritual matters.  She claims to have put her faith in Christ, but as most Mexicans, she comes from a strong Catholic background.  Please pray for us as we continue to try to clarify Biblical things with her.

We will be returning to the states in July for six weeks to visit some churches and to attend the annual EBM conference.  We will be leaving Mexico on the 7th and driving back with the Hudson ’s.  It has worked out so that we can also drive back to Mexico with them, which will be safer.    When we get back, we will be moving to Puebla and already have a house to rent.  We will be living in another missionary family’s house for a year while they are in the States on furlough.  Again we see the Lord providing.

Prayer requests:

  1. Wisdom for our church as they seek God’s will for a senior pastor.  A candidate is coming the first week in June.
  2. Safety as we travel to and from the States.
  3. Our Bible study with Salvador and his son, Salvador
  4. Pray that Susan’s teacher Adriana will understand what true salvation is and accept Christ
  5. The evangelism class that Bryan is teaching.

Thank you once again for all of your prayers.  We couldn’t be down here without you.

In Christ’s Service,

The Nevin Family
