The other day, while Grandma and Grandpa
Bushre(Susan's parents) were here and sick with the flu, Josh said, "I'm
going to pray that Grandma and Grandpa get better in two days." So he
did. A little while later, he said, "Maybe I should pray that they get
better in one day." So he did. He followed his prayer up by saying,
"Don't tell Grandma and Grandpa. I want it to be a surprise!" Oh, how
great is the faith of little children. If only us adults would have
such faith.
On Mother’s Day, we had a special
evangelistic service. We had three families visiting that day. One of
the families comes occasionally. I visited them this past week. They
haven’t been coming too regularly because they are building a house, and
his only days to do it are Saturday and Sunday. Another family that
came has been attending pretty regularly. It is the aunt of a man from
the church and her neighbor. The other family lives about half an hour
from here, and have been back once since then.
Next month we will be having our annual
VBS. Every year, Mexican churches send some young people to go on
summer mission’s trips. They travel to different churches to do VBS.
This year, we will be having VBS in two different communities. We hope
that these activities help us to get new contacts.
We continue to struggle with marriage
problems in the church. We began counseling another family with
problems. The husband threatened to leave his wife. Bryan convinced
him to stay and get help. They came that week for counseling, but
haven’t been back. They still come to church regularly, but he has been
missing a lot of services.
Arturo, the man whose wife left him,
hasn’t been to church in a while. He has had a very difficult year.
His wife left him, his sister died, his brother died, and his mother had
a stroke (or something) and is paralyzed on half of her body. He no
longer lives in his house, but lives with his mother and takes care of
her.
We now have a new worship center. It is a
little bit more than what we were paying at the other place, but we have
it for the whole week and not just on Sundays. It is a little small,
but as we grow, we can take out a wall to allow room for expansion.
We also have moved to a new house. Since
the Smith’s come back in the beginning of July, we wanted to be out of
their house before they came back. Susan’s parents have been here for
the past two weeks helping us paint, build shelves, and get our house
ready to live in.
On Sunday, we have two college students
come for a week for a mission’s trip, and on Monday, another college
student arrives for a mission’s trip and will be here until July 21st.
This August, we will be traveling back to
the U.S. for a couple of weeks. Bryan’s brother is getting married on
August 27th and Susan’s brother is getting married on
September 4th. We are thankful that Susan’s brother and
fiancée were able to change their wedding date so that we could make
both weddings! We will also be visiting one of our new supporting
churches on that trip.
Thanks so much for your prayers and
financial support. We couldn’t be here without it. If you would like
to come on a mission’s trip to Mexico, let us know!
