We're back in Mexico!

We had a good time in the U.S. visiting many of our supporting churches, friends, and family. It was great to see so many of you on this trip and report on what God is doing in Mexico, as well as minister in our churches. We are glad to be back home in Mexico now after spending 3 1/2 months traveling throughout the Midwest and Northeast parts of the United States.

In total, we drove about 14,500 miles and stayed in over 30 different places on our trip. We praise the Lord for his protection. Our car worked great, and we didn’t have any problems until towards the end of our trip when traveling just outside of Buffalo, NY. As we were driving down the highway, we heard a strange noise and then the car starting swerving, so we got off at the exit, which was right there. By this time, it was very bad. A tow truck towed us a mile to a mechanic who fixed our rear wheel. He told us that if we had gone another 10 feet, the wheel could have fallen completely off!

The trip back to Mexico was delayed a few days because of a snow storm, computer problems (waiting for the part to arrive), and a package that arrived late. Our computer’s hard drive died, and we lost everything. Fortunately we backed up many things in Mexico before we returned to the U.S.

The day after the computer was fixed, a big snow storm came across the country, and about a foot of snow and ice fell in Indianapolis, where we were at the time. Finally, we were able to leave on Wednesday. That day, Abby cut her first two teeth, so she wasn’t very happy. We also saw many cars turned over and in ditches on the way as the roads weren’t in the best condition because of the storm, but God took care of us. We are so thankful!

Family News

The boys did great with all of the traveling. They had a great time in the U.S. They spent a few weeks at both sets of grandparents houses, during the holidays. They also got to see some of their friends that they hadn’t seen in two years. They also enjoyed going to church where they speak English!

Abby is doing well. She is almost 6 months now! She is a very happy baby, and she is also sleeping through the night. She coos and likes to play with anything that will fit in her mouth.

Susan and Bryan are becoming expert packers after spending the last several months living out of the car.

It was great to be back in the U.S., but we’re all happy to be back home in Mexico.

Ministry News

The church continues to do well. At the annual Christmas program, a record 70 were in attendance! Several of the church people stepped up to make this Christmas program a success. For the Valentine’s banquet, 13 couples came, including some first time visitors. Other visitors have also been coming to church on Sunday mornings as well! We are currently about maxed out for our current building that we are renting, and we are going to have to look for some new facilities. Praise the Lord!

Now that we are back, we will be getting back involved in the different ministries we did before, and we also hope to be able to start some new Bible studies as well.

Next month, Rolland Smith (our teammate) will be traveling to Guatemala for a field council meeting and then he and his wife will be visiting family in Japan as they are expecting a new grandchild.

Thank you so much for your support of the ministry in Mexico! You are an important part of our team!
