Ministry News
Between Easter week, Children’s Day, Labor Day, Mother's Day, and
Teacher's Day, there is a lot going on here in Mexico, and as a result, church sometimes
gets left out. That’s what is going on here in Texcoco right now. In
March, we were averaging around 50 on Sunday mornings, and that has
dropped to between 30-40 this month.
Recently, we had a youth service at church where the youth did
everything in the service. They did a great job. The youth leader,
Miguel, preached for the first time, and he did a great job. He is the
most faithful man in our church, and we have hoped that he could
possibly become the pastor one day. He has been without a job since
October, and has just recently been offered a job in Zacatecas, a city
about 8 hours from Texcoco. He has accepted the job, but can still stay
here if he finds another job in the Mexico City area. We are praying
that God will keep him and his family here in Texcoco.
For Mother’s Day, we had an evangelistic activity with a special
dinner for the Mothers as well as taking free family pictures. We had
two new families visit. We hope to follow up with them. One of the
families has indicated that they would like to start attending, even
though they aren’t even saved yet.
We are also going to try a new evangelistic ministry through
counseling. As in the U.S., many Mexican families need help. We will be
passing out flyers throughout the city. We hope that people will take
advantage of this ministry, and come to Christ in the process.
There is a young man in our church who has been involved in some
serious sexual sin. We have been counseling him over the past month or
so. Please pray that he will have victory over this.
